Abstract
Deploying an efficient number and locations of Roadside Units (RSUs) plays an important role in vehicular ad-hoc network. In this work, the realistic urban area “JAWAHARLAL NEHRU UNIVERSITY” (JNU), Delhi India, and its dense areas of macroscopic traffic flow have been used for RSUs’ placement purpose. From the various intersections of the area, only the dense areas of JNU intersections have been considered for RSUs deployment. Further, the random vehicular mobility was generated on the area and studied the communication pattern among vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication. Finally, the performance of V2I communication was evaluated in terms of Packet Delivery Ratio, Packet Loss, Routing overhead and End-to-End Delay as statistical measures.
